Carmelo Anthony's name has been all over sports headlines.

However, today reports have stated that Anthony has only considered signing an extension with the Denver Nuggets or the New York Knicks.

Will this play an effect on the Nets' three-way deal?

I think it definitely will and could also lead a sign that Melo is leaning toward signing to the Knicks.

I think this is a smart decision by the All-Star small forward because if he goes to the Nets, they won't be successful.

In fact, it's the Denver Nuggets all over again if you ask me.

In previous rumors that have been stated, Anthony would be dealt to the Nets and so would Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton.

But is that improvement from Denver? Just think about it.

With the Nets he is still with Billups and the only big difference is Brook Lopez instead of Nene.

But is Lopez that much better than Nene to make them a championship caliber team?

I don't think so. Lopez is a very solid center, but not a heck of a lot better than Nene.

Plus, the Nets are losing Derrick Favors and Devin Harris in the deal.

Anthony is definitely making a wise decision by choosing New York or staying in Denver.

If he goes to the Knicks, Melo would team up with Amare Stoudemire, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler to compete against teams like the Heat, Celtics, Magic and the Bulls.

It would also make the Eastern Conference a lot more entertaining.

But what if Melo stays in Denver?

It may not bring a championship to Anthony, but it will certainly gain him a ton of respect by every NBA fan. But is that what he is looking for?

Kevin Garnett once said, "Sometimes, loyalty is a bad thing."

And maybe he is right.

What should Carmelo do in this situation?

A lot of question marks will be raised no matter where he chooses to go.

From how things are playing out, it looks as if a Melo deal is right around the corner just waiting to happen.
