Baron Davis, Rasheed Wallace and The 10 Most Out of Shape Players In NBA History
The NBA is supposed to be a league where only the fittest of athletes survive and prosper.
But, every now and then, a guy who is out of shape will find his way onto the court.
Often, simply by playing the game every other day, they'll work themselves into game shape. But, after the offseason ends, it's easy to see which guys weren't working out as much as they should have been.
From Baron Davis to Eddy Curry to Shawn Kemp to Oliver Miller, here are the 10 most out-of-shape players in NBA history.
10. Charles Barkley
1 of 10
Barkley was a great player, there's no denying that.
He was one of the best forwards ever to play the game.
But, as he aged, he got more and more out of shape. Still, you have to respect the way he played the game during his prime.
9. Keith Gallon
2 of 10
Gallon hasn't played in the NBA yet, but once he does, he'll immediately take his place amongst the most out-of-shape players in league history.
Look at him in this picture. There's no way he can hold up for an entire 82-game season.
8. Yao Ming
3 of 10
Maybe Yao isn't quite as out of shape as he is awkwardly built.
Watching him lumber up and down the court, one could tell it was only a matter of time until he broke down.
7. Shaquille O'Neal
4 of 10
Shaq's quest to "win a ring for the King" ended with him being overweight and out of shape.
Though he appears to be in better shape this year with the Celtics, 2009 was not a good year for Shaq.
6. Baron Davis
5 of 10
Davis admitted this offseason that he didn't really work out until he had to.
That's not what the Clippers were expecting when they paid a boatload of money to bring him in as a free agent.
When the crowd is behind him though, he's still a pretty electric point guard.
5. Robert Traylor
6 of 10
Tractor Traylor was just a very large man.
He looked like he would have been better off as an NFL offensive lineman, but NBA center is where he made his living.
Clearly, he wasn't meant for the grind of an 82-game season.
4. Eddy Curry
7 of 10
Curry was a player with a lot of potential when he was drafted.
Unfortunately, he never put in the appropriate amount of work to keep himself in shape.
Just another story about a player with a lot of potential that never materialized.
3. Oliver Miller
8 of 10
Miller came into the league at a robust 280 pounds and left at over 300 pounds.
His stamina was shot towards the end of his career, so it's amazing that he actually played for the Harlem Globetrotters for a while.
2. Rasheed Wallace
9 of 10
Wallace was in shape for most of his career, but his 2009 season with the Celtics was just sad.
'Sheed basically spent all his time on the court jogging from three-point line to three-point line.
He ended up playing well in the playoffs, but the regular season was horrendous.
1. Shawn Kemp
10 of 10
Most of the players on this list became out of shape towards the end of their careers.
But Kemp was just plain fat during what should have been the prime of his career.
He had a world of talent but just couldn't realize his full potential.
Still, though, even a fat Shawn Kemp was pretty productive.
