Monta Ellis, Golden State Warriors One of NBA's Surprise Teams in 2010
The NBA season has just barely started and while so far most of the talk has been about the Miami Heat’s poor start or the Los Angeles Lakers’ looking strong, there are sure to be many surprising teams this year.
Milwaukee Bucks (4-5)
Although they are not off to a strong start, the Bucks could be a scary team come playoff time.

They have a wonderful core of players with Brandon Jennings at point guard and a healthy Andrew Bogut at center. John Salmons’ numbers are down this year but look for him to get back to form to help in the backcourt. Carlos Delfino is a great role-player, helping with consistent three-point shooting and his abilities to make great steals.
A big move this offseason, in my opinion, was the addition of Corey Maggette. When Maggette is on, he is on. He can provide vital scoring off the bench that could really lift this team above the rest. They do have a void at power forward with Drew Gooden or Luc Richard Mbah a Moute not being the solution, but still they have a good enough core to make a splash in the playoffs.
Memphis Grizzlies (4-5)
This is a team I like a lot and that is the only reason they are on this list. I am not sure how much of a threat they can be but they do have a solid lineup. They have the same starting lineup as last year with Mike Conley, O.J. Mayo, Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol.
Conley has really stepped up his game this year and Mayo and Gay are solid players that could ball with the best. Randolph seemed to be rejuvenated last year in Memphis and Gasol has a huge upside, especially being the brother of Pau.
They have a very young bench but their biggest issue is that they do not really have a star, takeover player. Although Mayo and Gay are legit stars in this league, they do not yet have this superstar quality that allows them to just take over games. This could be their biggest flaw and biggest obstacle to overcome.
Golden State Warriors (6-3)
The Warriors have had a surprising start but it shouldn’t be so surprising looking at the team they have built. Monta Ellis is a scoring beast and Stephen Curry is a young stud. Andris Biedrins can really pull in the boards but their offseason moves will make a huge impact.
Dorell Wright has been a huge surprise and is currently leading the league in three-point shooting. The biggest move was the acquisition of David Lee. Lee is finally playing the power forward position and he is just a straight up beast. The Warriors have two good big men, two amazing guards and a legit shooter at small forward. Their bench is a little thin but this team has a huge upside.
There are a few teams that look like they have a good future but maybe not this year, stay tuned for my post on this up and coming teams.
This is just an opinion so please…Pardon My Bias
