Yesterday's rumor of the day was based around Carmelo Anthony and his chances of being dealt to the New Jersey Nets.
Sources around the league described the Nets as "legit" contenders for acquiring the seven year forward out of Syracuse.
Today's news is that the Nuggets are interested in shopping starting point-guard Chauncey Billups as well.
ESPN's John Hollinger sent out a tweet on Thursday discussing the Billups and Nuggets situation stating,
"Remember, if the Nuggets trade Melo and rebuild, there's really no point in them keeping Billups either. Could be two All-Stars on market."
The Nuggets organization has repeatedly stated that keeping Melo is their top priority, but with all signs pointing towards Anthony exiting a potential transaction could be made in the near future.
With Kenyon Martin entering his final contract year and recovering from knee surgery, Chris Anderson expecting to miss the start of the season from offseason surgery, and Anthony having one foot out the door, it makes sense for the Denver organization to land a deal for Billups as well so that they can begin rebuilding their newly looked roster.
While there are certainly teams in need of a starting point-guard (Charlotte, Memphis, Sacramento) it's more likely that Chauncey "Big Shot" Billups would want to join a contending team competing for an NBA title rather than a sub-par organization.
If Billups does get dealt, which team do you think would best suit Mr. Big Shot?
