Washington Wizards’ center JaVale McGee announced today on Twitter that he has every intention of making a run at the NBA’s 2010 Dunk Contest stating, "i’m tryna b n the dunk contest…let’s start the campaign now!"

McGee has impressed his teammates and coaches after very strong play during the Wizards’ summer league games held in Las Vegas last week.

JaVale McGee not only showed strong rebounding and scoring abilities, but he also showed tremendous athleticism and fluidity in his dunks.

In the team’s first game, McGee received the ball on a wide-open fastbreak and completed a damn good Dr. J-look-alike.

McGee continued that throughout the week with numerous alley-oops from rookie point guard John Wall, even catching and turning in mid-air, and a handful of dunking put-backs.

McGee came into camp after growing a reported one and one-quarter inch during the offseason.

Now standing at 7’1, McGee’s mid-air movements and slams are far more impressive than the versatile guard frame that we so often see in All-Star game festivities.

So by the request of BigDaddyWookie himself, and hopefully tons of fans, here’s my attempt at beginning the real campaign for JaVale McGee to enter the 2010 NBA Dunk Contest.
