Tim Duncan Helps Deliver 20,000 Pounds of Food to US Virgin Islands

Moe MotonSep 15, 2017

Hurricane Irma tore through the U.S. Virgin Islands and left the community in great need. Fortunately, former San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan, who was born and raised in Christiansted, St. Croix, didn't forget his roots.

Duncan set up donation links to contribute to the cause in helping the people from his homeland. He posted encouraging words from the Twitter account @DuncanRelief.

"We had 20,000 lbs of food delivered today. We also had another plane with more food and medical supplies touch down this afternoon. Planning on doing even better tomorrow!"

The 15-time All-Star's effort to aid the Virgin Islands compares to Houston Texans star J.J. Watt's efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

We don't have to get caught up in dollars and cents to understand the magnitude of Duncan's reach. A basic essential such as food will go a long way in giving the people of the Virgin Islands hope for better days.
