Westbrook Breaks Franchise Record for Assists in Single Month
Oklahoma City Thunder star point guard Russell Westbrook broke the franchise record for assists in a month during November, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN.com).
By dishing out 11 assists Wednesday in a 126-115 win over the Washington Wizards, Westbrook totaled 190 assists for the month. The total easily surpassed Gary Payton's franchise record when they were the Seattle Supersonics in April 1999. However, "The Glove" required 18 games to hit his total, while Westbrook did it in 17.
Elias also notes that Westbrook is just the second player in NBA history with 500 points, 200 rebounds and 200 assists in the first 20 games of a season. The only other player to accomplish that feat was Oscar Robertson, who did so in 1961-62. Westbrook finished November with exactly 623 points, 225 assists and 210 rebounds.

The Thunder required overtime to top the Wizards in Wednesday's contest, but earned their fourth straight victory. Westbrook recorded 14 points in the overtime session, assisting in the team's franchise record 21 points in any "extra" period. The previous record of 20 occurred three times—in 2012 and in 1972 and 1992 as the Supersonics.
In addition to the other accolades, Westbrook managed his fourth consecutive triple-double and ninth of the season Wednesday evening. His nine triple-doubles this year equals the rest of the league combined, per ESPN.com.
Westbrook and the Thunder both receive an opportunity to extend their respective streaks to five Sunday when they host the New Orleans Pelicans.
