Stan Van Gundy Comments on Donald Trump's Win over Hillary Clinton
Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy didn't shy away from voicing his displeasure with Donald Trump's becoming the president-elect of the United States.
The Detroit Free Press' Vince Ellis shared Van Gundy's comments prior to Detroit's game against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night:
"I don't think anybody can deny this guy is openly and brazenly racist and misogynistic. We have just thrown a good part of our population under the bus, and I have problems with thinking this is where we are as a country. ... It's just, we have said -- and my daughters, the three of them -- our society has said, 'No, we think you should be second-class citizens. We want you to be second-class citizens. And we embrace a guy who is openly misogynistic as our leader.' I don't know how we get past that.

According to CNN, Hillary Clinton is ahead in the popular vote, but Trump captured 290 electoral votes, making him the 45th president.
It's little surprise to see Van Gundy outspoken with his beliefs.
In April, he argued the NBA should move the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte, North Carolina, in reaction to the state's House Bill 2, which lessened protections from discrimination.
In August 2011, the Orlando Sentinel's Zach McCann reported Van Gundy was open to the possibility of running for elected office. Writing for Grantland in 2012, Caleb Hannan described the 57-year-old as a "lifelong political junkie" but noted Van Gundy soured on entering the political sphere after he encountered hostility from critics.
"There's no chance you’ll see me even run for PTA president after this," Van Gundy said at the time. "These people are nuts."
