Derrick Rose's Rape Accuser Details Alleged Assault in Court Testimony

Mike ChiariOct 7, 2016

The ex-girlfriend of New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose testified Thursday in her $21.5 million civil lawsuit against the former NBA MVP, and she detailed the sexual assault allegedly committed by Rose and his two friends in 2013.

According to Brian Melley of the Associated Press, the plaintiff believed Rose drugged her tequila, which caused her to remember only parts of the alleged rape: "I've never felt like that before. I just felt I was less in control, more goofy."

The woman also further described what she saw and how she felt during a flash of consciousness at the time of the alleged incident: "I recall waking up and seeing them in my room. ... I just felt like I wanted to throw up."

She said she had lubricant on her legs, and there was a used condom on her floor when she awoke the next morning, but she decided against reporting the incident to the authorities due to embarrassment.

Rose's lawyer questioned the woman's credibility by producing text messages sent by her to Rose during the time she was allegedly blacked out. The defense attorney said among the texts were invitations to her residence.

Per Marc Berman and Julia Marsh of the New York Post, the trial is expected to last roughly a week after it commenced Tuesday.
