Game-Used Stephen Curry Mouthguard to Be Auctioned Off

Have you ever wanted to get your hands on a game-used Stephen Curry mouthguard? Probably not...but if you have, you are in luck!

SCP Auctions announced Wednesday that it will be auctioning off such a piece of memorabilia later this summer. Because sports.

According to ESPN.com's Darren Rovell, the auction house acquired the mouthpiece from a fan who picked it up off the floor near the Golden State Warriors bench during a game this season.

Some may wonder how much something like a game-used mouthguard can really sell for. But given that it comes from a player who won his second consecutive MVP award on the way to leading his team to the NBA's single-season wins record, there is sure to be quite a bit of value in the item.

Per Rovell, the unique piece of memorabilia is expected to go for more than $5,000. Five. Grand.

Curry's mouthpiece has become iconic in recent seasons because he can routinely be seen chewing on it. Last year, the Warriors superstar went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and talked about his mouthguard habits:

Little did he realize, he could make a nice chunk of change if he decided to sell his mouthpiece once it had been worn out. If one picked up by a fan will fetch a couple thousand dollars, imagine how much an autographed one would draw.

Some may think it's gross to buy a "collectible" like this. Others will chalk it up to being a fan. Regardless of your thoughts, it will be worth keeping an eye on this auction come August.
