It would be understandable if LeBron James' sons, LeBron Jr. (aka Bronny) and Bryce, chose to wear either No. 23 or No. 6 in honor of their father.
However, the James kids elect to wear other numbers—in honor of other NBA stars. And the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar is perfectly fine with it.
The 31-year-old James tweeted out his sons' latest highlight reel on Monday to show the world that his kids have game. Some may have noticed that Bronny was sporting No. 0 and Bryce had No. 30 on his uniform. When most NBA fans see those numbers, the Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook and the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry come to mind.
That's not a coincidence.
James told ESPN's Dave McMenamin on Monday that his sons did indeed pick their respective numbers after Westbrook and Curry, and he also revealed why he likes to see that:
LeBron tells me LeBron Jr. (No. 0) & Bryce (No. 30) wear their numbers after Westbrook & Steph. "I love that they carve their own path"— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) March 15, 2016
Bronny and Bryce will always hear comparisons to their father, fair or not. There's nothing they can do about that. But at the end of the day, they are each their own person and can build their own legacy. Something as simple as a uniform number allows them to do exactly that.
