Nick 'Swaggy P' Young Had No Idea When 2016 NBA Trade Deadline Was

Kyle NewportFeb 18, 2016

The trade deadline can be stressful for athletes throughout professional sports, so for those who really don't want to be moved, it's at least good to know when the deadline is so there can be a sigh of relief when the danger of a deal passes.

When Nick "Swaggy P" Young walked into the Los Angeles Lakers' facility Wednesday, he was thrilled to still be wearing purple and gold. The only problem is that the 2016 NBA trade deadline was 3 p.m. ET on Feb. 18, which is a Thursday, not a Wednesday.

Just a minor detail.

Lakers coach Byron Scott kept it real when giving his thoughts on his eccentric player, per ESPN's Baxter Holmes:

This situation brings back memories of another classic Swaggy P moment. In a game a few years back, he celebrated a three-pointer before it went through the hoop—and it ended up popping out.

Just like on that shot, Swaggy P started celebrating a tad too early this week. But fortunately for Young, the trade deadline came and went Thursday without seeing him change teams.
