Derrick Williams Declines Comment on Report Women Robbed Him of $750K in Jewelry

Adam WellsDec 20, 2015

New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams was reportedly robbed of $750,000 in jewelry by two women at his apartment in Tribeca on Saturday, according to Larry Celona and Joe Tacopino of the New York Post

Williams declined to comment on the situation, telling the Post, "I don't want to talk about it. It's still up in the air," after New York's win Saturday night over the Chicago Bulls.

The Post reported Williams had been celebrating the Knicks' victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night at a club and invited a group of friends back to his apartment, with the two women alleged to have robbed him coming along:

After more partying at Williams' bachelor pad, everyone went home.

But not before the two party girls found the Louis Vuitton case stuffed with three-quarters of a million dollars worth of jewelry in one of Williams' closets.

The fast-fingered females grabbed the contents, and took off, the sources said.

Williams has not been shy about sharing pictures of his jewelry on social media, including this Instagram post from more than a year ago:

The 24-year-old is in his first season with the Knicks after spending the first four years of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings. He has appeared in 27 of the team's 28 games and is averaging 7.3 points per game off the bench.

New York police officers are trying to determine if the situation with Williams is part of a recent string of robberies in which "young women...prey upon wealthy, bling-flashing men at clubs and hotel bars," sources told the Post

A separate report by Tina Moore, Bruce Golding and Kelly Hartog of the Post, published Dec. 9, noted a watch dealer from Beverly Hills had a watch valued at $590,000 and an additional $6,000 in cash taken from his hotel room by two women after he had partied with at least one of them at a strip club.
