Lakers Fans from Italy 'Quit' Jobs to Watch Kobe Bryant Lose to the 76ers

Dan CarsonDec 2, 2015

So here's a thing: Two guys sitting courtside for Tuesday night's basement-level shovel fight between the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center claim they flew in from Italy for the game.

ESPN's Darren Rovell noted their sign, which alleges they quit their jobs and spent $8,500 to watch Kobe Bryant's "last games."

A few things about this:

1. That's a lot of money.

2. They wrote "games," implying the $6,000 dropped on tickets last night was just the beginning.

3. I'm trying to figure out what job pays you enough to afford an international, multi-game, multi-city Bryant appreciation tour and is one you'd have to quit to get time off. I think at that level, you're probably the CEO.

4. These guys have a strong, working knowledge of American football:

5. Whoever they are, and whatever they end up doing, I hope they have a lot of fun. Because they spent a lot of scratch to see Bryant lose to a previously winless Philadelphia team 103-91.

So enjoy yourself, international Kobe fans. Try not to think about all those cover letters waiting to be written back at home.
