34% of Fans Think Current Michael Jordan Can Beat LeBron James According to Poll

Jake SilverMay 14, 2015

According to a recent national poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, 34 percent of NBA fans believe Michael Jordan (52 years old) could beat present-day LeBron James (30 years old) in a game of one-on-one:

"

There's no such division when it comes to who NBA fans think is the best player of all time. 77% pick Michael Jordan on that question to only 14% who think it's LeBron James. In fact despite his being 52 years old, 34% of NBA fans think Jordan could beat James one on one now- as in the year 2015- to just 54% who think James would win despite being in the prime of his career.

Let's get one thing straight: Michael Jordan is the unquestioned greatest of all time. Magic Johnson was sensational, Wilt Chamberlain put up 100 and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds the scoring record. It's MJ, though. We're not arguing that.

But please. LeBron is two seasons removed from back-to-back NBA MVP awards (along with accompanying championship rings and Finals MVP honors). This year, he averaged 25.3 points, 7.4 assists and six rebounds per game. His Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorites to represent the Eastern Conference in the 2015 NBA Finals.

Stephen Curry may have won the MVP this season, but you could easily make the case that LeBron is still the best player in the NBA (settle down, Warriors fans).

On the other hand, it made national news when Michael Jordan was merely able to dunk two years ago at age 50.

So all hail the GOAT, but let's set the 34 percent straight: Current LeBron would beat current MJ.
