Kevin Durant Responds to Former Opponent Who Says He Shut Him Down

Dan CarsonMar 11, 2015

Kevin Durant is bored.

The Oklahoma City Thunder forward continues to sit out as he heals up from a surgery replacing a screw in his right foot, and by all appearances, he’s tending to his Twitter mentions as he whiles away the downtime.

Enter Nate Flowers, a native of Walford, Maryland, who began popping off “I’ve held my own against every NBA player I’ve faced” sentiments on Twitter.

Among the players Flowers listed Tuesday was Durant, who played him at some point in time in the last 26 years—possibly as youths in Maryland or potentially when Flowers played ball at Oklahoma City University.

In any case, Durant follows Flowers, and he wasn’t about to let the remark go when it appeared on his timeline.

And then a lively back-and-forth began, which BSO's Troy Haliburton spotted.

Even poor Tony Allen sustained collateral damage.

And that was that between Durant and Flowers—for the moment, at least.

Then again, Sam Hinkie is alive and well, meaning there’s always a chance Flowers could end up playing Durant at the Wells Fargo Center. If you have legs, can sort of, kind of stop Kevin Durant and are willing to play for the league minimum, there’s always a job in Philadelphia.

Dan is on Twitter. He knows you’re interested, Sam.
