Dahntay Jones Fined $10K for Bumping Draymond Green: Latest Details, Reaction
Dahntay Jones' postgame bump of Draymond Green during an interview has turned out to be an expensive decision, as the NBA has fined the Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard.
Sam Amick of USA Today reported the news:
Here's the incident in question:
And here's how Green responded:
Green's words were pointed, but he wasn't totally off base. Jones is averaging just 0.9 points and 0.4 rebounds in 4.6 minutes per game this year, appearing in 17 contests.
After the game, Jones told reporters, "That's not how you bump somebody if you purposely want to bump them," per Ethan Sherwood Strauss of ESPN.com.
Clippers coach Doc Rivers backed his player Jones, per Arash Markazi of ESPN LA:
The NBA clearly saw things differently, of course, as did Green, who is having an impressive year for the Warriors. Golden State is 49-12 and in first place in the Pacific Division.
One would guess Jones will be keeping his bumps restricted to in-game action from here on out as the Clippers (40-23) continue to battle for playoff positioning.
