Pekovic Comments on Ankle Injury
Monday, March 2
Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune in Minneapolis wrote the ankle has been giving Pekovic problems for some time. He's played with some level of pain for at least a month.
"It gets worse. The morning is the worst after a game," Pekovic said after a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. "I was fighting through, you know? You fight through something and you hit a wall sometimes. Tonight was that night. I feel bad for that. They've got big boys down there."
Pekovic has played in 27 games this year, and he's averaging 13.2 points and 7.8 rebounds a night. Given how many problems the ankle has caused, it's no surprise his numbers are down from last year.
The Timberwolves are among the worst teams in the league, so it's not as if his absence will have a major impact on the team. The big thing is ensuring the injured ankle doesn't become a long-term issue.
