Michael Jordan's College Residence Hall ID Card Is Cooler Than Yours
In honor of His Airness' 52nd birthday on Tuesday, a deluge of vintage Michael Jordan content has been dug up and circulated about the sports Webosphere in the last 24 hours.
Jaunts down Nostalgia Lane are fun, particularly when an ostensibly new (to the public) piece of Jordan paraphernalia comes along. In this vein, ESPN’s Darren Rovell tweeted a picture of Jordan’s off-campus residence hall card from his days at the University of North Carolina.
It looks worlds better than any identification card you’ve ever owned.
Now, anyone who has ever posed for any ID picture is well aware that the image of you on that piece of plastic is the worst look of all possible looks you can make. Your hair is a wreck. You're still sweating from the three-point turn. You look like a zombie ate another zombie and is now regretting it.
This isn’t the case for Jordan, who looks like his image was grabbed from The Associated Press archive and artfully overlaid onto the displayed text. I mean, is that a drop shadow back there? On a student ID? My college ID picture looked like a processing outtake at Shawshank State Prison. I think they had just thrown the lye on me. It wasn’t good.
In any case, UNC plays Duke on Wednesday night, and the Jordan honoraries will surely continue to flow. Just remember that he looks better than you (well, kind of) and probably still has redeemable meal points.
Dan is on Twitter. He misses meal points.
