Yahoo's Marc J. Spears: Thompson Wants Out of Sacramento

Sunday, Feb. 15

Yahoo Sports' Marc J. Spears reported that Jason Thompson might try to force a trade ahead of the Feb. 19 deadline:

Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee indicated that if the Kings had their way, however, Thompson would've been traded already:

According to Spotrac, Thompson will make a little over $6.4 million in 2015-16 and $6.8 million in 2016-17. While that's not an insignificant amount, his cap figure isn't completely unwieldy so as to scare off potential suitors.

Thompson's performance on the court has left a little to be desired, though. He's playing 24.7 minutes a night for Sacramento, averaging 5.6 points on 46.8 percent shooting and 6.3 rebounds. According to Basketball-Reference, his 9.0 PER is the lowest of his career.

With a lesser role on a playoff contender, Thompson might be able to find the efficiency he's lacked over the last few years.
