Chris Paul Stares Down Kevin Durant After Hitting Jumper, KD Talks Smack
One of the cardinal rules of sports is that if your team is getting blown out, you have no right to talk smack or taunt.
Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul apparently doesn't care for that rule.
The Oklahoma City Thunder turned Sunday's game against the Clippers into a blowout early in the second half. The Thunder cruised to a 131-108 win, with Durant only logging 29 minutes in the contest.
With his team down big late in the third quarter, Paul hit a long jumper near the Thunder's bench. The Clippers floor general decided to stare down Durant, who was on the bench at the time, before heading back to play defense.
That little staredown prompted Durant to remind Paul of the scoreboard:
It looks like Durant said, "You're down 20 now, homie."
In other words, there was a reason Durant was on the bench at the time.
Here's the full play:
It's not clear why Paul stared down Durant, but the Thunder superstar did have something to say about the Clippers before the game, per Dan Woike of The Orange County Register:
Durant had 29 points, six assists and five rebounds in the blowout victory. Paul finished with 18 points, 13 assists, six rebounds and three steals in 36 minutes.
