Mo Williams to Hornets: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction
By now, Mo Williams has learned not to get too attached to his surroundings. The 32-year-old guard is headed to his fifth different team in the last four years.
According to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the Minnesota Timberwolves sent Williams and Troy Daniels to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Gary Neal and a second-round draft pick.
Minnesota may not be done making moves, either, according to Dan Barreiro of KFAN.com.
Following the news, Williams commented on his time in Minnesota:
"Just want to say to the Twolves organization thank you. I really enjoyed my time here. My teammates and coaches all the way up to (1/2)

"the owner was fantastic. I really appreciate it #goodluckinthefuture (2/2)

Timberwolves head coach and president of basketball operations Flip Saunders also spoke about Williams' tenure with the team:
Although he didn't spend much time in Minneapolis, Williams quickly became a quality role player for the Timberwolves, averaging 12.2 points and 6.4 assists a night. He picked up the slack in Minnesota's rotation after an ankle injury kept Ricky Rubio on the sidelines for nearly three months.
Williams etched his name into the team's record books with his 52-point outburst against the Indiana Pacers on Jan. 13.
The Timberwolves (11-41) are firmly in the early stages of a complete rebuild. Trading Kevin Love in the offseason essentially signaled that the franchise was throwing up the white flag and starting from scratch.
As a result, veterans like Williams were bound to be expendable at some point. Although it's always smart to have a few older players around to mentor the younger stars, there was little doubt that if the T-Wolves received a good offer, they wouldn't hesitate to send Williams on his way.
He should be a solid addition for Charlotte (22-29). His shooting percentage has trended downward over the last few years, but that might change if he improves his shot selection.
Williams also has plenty of experience in the playoffs, appearing in the postseason five times combined with the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers.
The Hornets, who are currently tied for seventh in the Eastern Conference playoff race, did well to add an experienced combo guard ahead of the Feb. 19 trade deadline.
