LeBron James Deactivates 'Chill Mode' After Tobias Harris Says 'Stop Flopping'

Tyler BrookeDec 27, 2014

When going against arguably the best player in the NBA, it's probably not a good idea to start trash-talking to give him some extra motivation.

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James got off to a sluggish start on Friday against the Orlando Magic. Tobias Harris surprisingly won the matchup with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting during the third quarter.

Then, about halfway through the third, Harris and James began to exchange words and had to be separated. According to Chris Haynes from Cleveland.com, Harris told LeBron to "stop flopping."

That was a mistake.

LeBron picked things up after that, scoring 15 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter while holding Harris to just one point after the exchange, leading the Cavaliers to a 98-89 win.

After the game, LeBron admitted that the incident provided a spark.

"It wasn't the shoulder or the elbow, it was the words that he said that got me going," James said, according to Haynes. "I was actually in chill mode tonight but chill mode was deactivated after that."

Despite the shift in momentum by the end of the game, Harris didn't seem to regret the decision.

"I'm not going to back down from anybody. That's my game," Harris told Haynes. "I'm going to give you 100 percent every night no matter who it is. I know we got into a little talking, that's all part of the game. It's just to fire my team up, that's it."

Harris might not regret talking some trash, but others might think twice about it after watching the way LeBron finished Friday's game.
