Thompson to Play vs. Wizards
Monday, March 23
Thompson is likely to start and play on a 25-minute restriction tonight against the Wizards, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports.
He was previously listed as doubtful, per Diamond Leung of MercuryNews.com.
"Klay Thompson (right ankle) is on the far floor, taking mostly flat-footed shots," Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle reported on March 19.
On March 17, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed that Thompson "will be out a week or 10 days," per Simmons. Kerr also stated he's "leaning toward starting Justin Holiday in Klay Thompson's absence."
While Thompson did score 26 points in 35 minutes of action against the Lakers, he was dealing with an ankle injury, per Simmons:
Thompson, who's dealt with a sprained hand already this season, comprises half of the Warriors' "Splash Brothers" backcourt tandem alongside All-Star Stephen Curry.
Although the latter is viewed as the face of the franchise, there is no denying Thompson is among the best shooting guards in the NBA.
The chemistry between Curry and Thompson is what drives the Warriors' explosive offense. Their respective net ratings from NBA.com are among the Association's best.
This roster is flexible and deep enough to keep the Warriors afloat if Thompson is to miss any game action. However, Thompson has to be healthy for the squad to remain among the elite in the stacked Western Conference.
