Pharrell and His Goofy Hat Are Featured in 'NBA 2K15'
Pharrell has scanned himself into your game, NBA 2K fans. And there’s nothing you can do about it.
Ostensibly looking to add another layer of disconcerting reality into its product, American game developer 2K Sports has shoehorned Pharrell and his 14-gallon Mountie hat into an NBA 2K15 cutscene.
YouTube user GamingWithOva uploaded game footage of the encounter, which shows Pharrell’s digital avatar conversing with a user-created player on the sideline.

As you’ll notice, game developers nailed the singer-songwriter to a T, getting everything right from his signature hat to his droopy, lithium-clouded eyes.

Pharrell is the virtual disc jockey of the NBA 2K15 experience. The “Happy” singer was charged with handpicking the game’s soundtrack—a task that included making good and sure tracks by Shaquille O’Neal didn’t end up on the playlist.
One could believe that somewhere in Pharrell’s negotiations with 2K Sports, the question of an in-game presence for the singer arose. He probably wanted in the game, and voila—here he is, live and in the pixelated flesh.
Enjoy your Pharrell cutscenes, 2K fans. It’s not every day you get to see a musical star permanently enshrined in their goofiest attire inside your video game.
