In a back-and-forth game between two of the NBA's most high-profile teams, the Miami Heat were able to outlast the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 107-97.

This is the fifth straight win for the Heat, who were able to extend their lead in the Eastern Conference after the New York Knicks lost earlier in the day.

For the Lakers, this closes out a seven-game road trip where the team finished with a 4-3 record to stay close in the race for the postseason.

Los Angeles simply could not defend the Heat on the day. Miami made 55 percent of its shots from the floor, and the team got a combined 62 points from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Although the Lakers got 28 points and nine assists from Kobe Bryant, it was not enough to get a tough win on the road.

Player of the Game: LeBron James

Like most Heat games, this came down to James and Wade. Both were impressive in the game.

The three-time MVP made 12 of his 18 shots to total 32 points in the win. He also added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

While Wade was also impressive, James' recent efficiency has been simply outstanding.
