It was a beautiful mess.
Such is the scene from any annual Battioke, a karaoke event which brings his teammates together for a sing along that aids Heat forward Shane Battier's Take Charge Foundation, an organization "dedicated to providing resources for the development and education of undeserved youth and teens."
This year, the Miami Heat's biggest stars dominated the stage with silly swag that beautifully demolished a couple of classic songs.
It all begins with the King of the NBA taking on the King of Pop as he belts out "Rock With You," but minus the sequin-studded sweater Jackson was wearing in the original music video, and that's a shame.
Then comes the main event, one that features a lucky fan getting serenaded with pretty much the best song ever. At least, that's what I thought as an awkward emo teenager.
James pretty much sings all of Shai's "If I Ever Fall In Love" as Dwyane Wade raps at this Heat fan, who goes from giddy excitement to feigned enthusiasm on the emotional scale.
In the end, the two get at each other as Wade tells James to get his own girl. Guffaws ensue and all cheer.
The latest Battioke proves to be the best kind of charity event, one that uplifts and helps the less fortunate, all while entertaining all of us who couldn't be there.
