There is one more reason to tune into the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat game on Friday night.
Well, aside from LeBron James and company taking on the 2-1 Hawks at Philips Arena, those at home will be entertained by an extra opinion in the booth.
NBA.com reports that rapper, actor and all-around talented entertainer T.I. will be in the broadcast booth for tonight's marquee matchup.
I have no idea why this came about, but I like it.
With music, acting, producing, two novels and fashion under his belt, Atlanta native, T.I. will soon add NBA color commentator to his resume. When the Atlanta Hawks take on the Miami Heat tonight at Philips Arena, T.I. will join longtime SportSouth commentator Bob Rathbun and former Atlanta Hawk Duane Ferrell as contributing sports analyst.
The report goes on to state that you better get your T.I. fix in early, because he will be doing color commentary for the first half of the game.
Aside from that, he will also be available to the media right before the game for comment. We will have to wait until that time to gauge whether he has any nerves before the tough task of lending a call to what should be a great game.
For those uninitiated, T.I. is a 32-year-old Atlanta native who broke onto the scene back in 2001 with his album I'm Serious. From there, he released eight studio albums, all while flirting with a budding acting career. He has been featured in Entourage and big-screen movies ATL and American Gangster.
Now he gets to mix it up in the sports world.
He picked one hell of a game to lend his voice, as the Heat come in with a 4-1 record after destroying the Nets on Wednesday. The Hawks are 2-1 and count the Western Conference Thunder among their early victims.
It's safe to say this will be an entertaining game.
