Anthony Davis Unibrow: Why Top Pick Should Never Part with Iconic Look

Sam R. QuinnJun 28, 2012

You know Anthony Davis the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. But do you know Anthony Davis the entrepreneur?

Davis has recently trademarked his world-renowned unibrow. According to CNBC, the former Kentucky Wildcats star had this to say:

"

"I don't want anyone to try to grow a unibrow because of me and then try to make money off of it," Davis told CNBC. "Me and my family decided to trademark it because it's very unique."

One quick thought: I don't know if you can force yourself to grow a unibrow. Isn't it something that just kind of happens?

Either way, I digress.

This means that every single time somebody produces a piece of apparel or anything else that has the words "Fear the Brow" or "Raise the Brow" written across its face, the maker must pony up the dough to Davis.

Genius. Simply brilliant. Capitalism at its finest.

I bet Rip Hamilton is cursing his agent for not advising him to trademark his famous face mask. Same thing goes for Curt Schilling and his bloody sock.

The unibrow may be unsightly and awkward, but it is a part of the legend that Davis has molded himself into. This trademark comes as a metaphorical middle finger to every one of Davis' peers who roasted him for that caterpillar-esque monstrosity on his forehead.

I never ridiculed him one time because of the "Brow." As a person with a few extra hairs in between my eyebrows, I commend his efforts to familiarize the world with a physical attribute that is often chastised by the general public.

His mom obviously loves it.

That guy in Oasis has a unibrow. Frida Kahlo had one, too.

Matt Bonner made a stand for redheads everywhere. Manu Ginobili is head of the NBA's receding hairline club (LeBron James is his right-hand man). Now Davis is leading the charge for unibrow-bearers worldwide.

This era of the NBA is saturated with players who focus so much on aesthetics. We have Dwyane Wade's gruesome pink pants. Russell Westbrook has his lens-less glasses and kaleidoscope post-game shirt.

Both are equally ridiculous, in my opinion.

Davis has it going on, though. He doesn't care what you, I or anyone else on the planet has to say about the extra follicles above his nose.

Point and laugh all you want, but Davis will be the one swimming in money thanks to the bush between his eyes.

Don't drop the look, Anthony...ever.
