The San Antonio Spurs gave the Oklahoma City Thunder everything they could handle during the playoffs, but the rumors flying around the NBA are that the franchise wants to make a big move this offseason to win a championship.

San Antonio’s rumored idea is trying to snag Celtics unrestricted free-agent Kevin Garnett if Boston elects to pass on his services.

Spurs insider Buck Harvey, reporting on the organization’s discussions about signing KG if he indeed hits the free-agency market, stated:

The Spurs will consider everything and everyone this summer when free agency begins. But one option tossed out this weekend by one in the Spurs organization is not just another name. Kevin Garnett.

Just like that, everything we thought about the Western Conference could be thrown out the window. While the Spurs were one of the best teams in the NBA this season, adding Garnett would make them great.

The Spurs must re-sign Tim Duncan to an extension first, but the combination of two big men as talented as Garnett and Duncan would surely make them the favorite to win the title.

While there would be questions about how minutes would be split and who would slide over to center, the team would have no problem fitting in a player as unselfish as KG.

The Spurs proved inconsistent in their series loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but they are still an elite team in terms of coaching, depth and sheer talent. If they retain their current roster and add Garnett to the equation, even OKC won’t be able to stop them.
