NBA Rumors: Steve Nash Joining Miami Heat Would Be Unfair

Ryan RudnanskyJun 6, 2018

As the trade deadline neared this season, Steve Nash said that he wanted to remain loyal to the Phoenix Suns organization.ย

But that's not to say the future free agent doesn't have certain expectations.

Asked on the Dan Patrick Show if the Miami Heat were a possibility in free agency, Nash said on Wednesday:

"I'd listen. I love what they're doing there. I have a tremendous respect for them and I'd definitely listen."

Bam. And the NBA world goes crazy.ย

Nash added:

"

I definitely do want to win. I'm not going to come back to the Suns if there isn't an improvement. If they're not ambitious and they're not looking to upgrade the roster seriously. And I think they are. They'll have a lot of flexibility in free agency. I think I've been standing pat so they could do some things this summer. I think they'll become a definite possibility for me, but I do want to win and I do want to consider all my options.

"

At 38 years old, Nash is nearing the end of his illustrious basketball career. He's also one of the greatest basketball players in history who has yet to win a championship. Nash may have been quiet about it headed into the trade deadline, but it's certainly bubbling over now.

Nash joining the Heat is, well, hard to even fathom. The Heat already have three superstars in LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Pairing them with one of the greatest facilitators the game has ever known almost seems unfair.

The Heat are generally regarded as the favorites to win the title this season. Adding Nash would make them even better.

Having three superstars on the same team isn't as carefree as it may seem. The Heat have struggled with team chemistry from time to time and were out-shined by the Chicago Bulls on March 14, despite the Bulls being without Derrick Rose in that game.

But adding Nash is not adding a bloated ego by any means. He's not only a terrific player, but he makes everyone around him better. His addition would allow the most talented team in the NBAย to run like a well-oiled machine. And that, my friends, is a very scary thing.

Nash wants an NBA championship, and he may just take less money to join the Heat. The rest of the NBA should be worried.
