Dwyane Wade Injury: Heat Star Leaves Game Against the Nets with Ankle Injury
The Miami Heat were being greedy and got their hand stuck in the cookie jar.
Holding a 27-point lead just before the half against the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday night, Dwyane Wade took an unnatural step to avoid the defense and was forced to leave the game, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst:
"Wade has a right ankle injury. Return questionable.
"
While every Wade injury should rightfully scare Heat fans, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel makes it clear that the injury isn't incredibly serious:
"Dwyane Wade has what the Heat are calling a 'tweaked' right ankle. His return is listed as questionable but figure on the score dictating that part of the equation. He took an awkward step to end the first half.
"
After one of his worst games of the season against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, Wade was on his way to a serious bounce-back game with 13 points, three assists and two rebounds on 6-of-8 shooting. The entire team in general looked reborn now that Chris Bosh has returned to the lineup after missing the past three games (two losses) due to grieving the death of his grandmother.
The Heat have to be careful with Wade and his fragile body. He already has missed nine games this season with foot issues, and now I'd guess he'll be out of action Wednesday night against the Atlanta Hawks. Treating every Wade ailment with caution is a must as the countdown to the playoffs continues to inch closer.
