Wolves vs. Clippers Video: Watch Kevin Love Drain Game-Winning Three to Stun LAC
Kevin Love is a double-double machine for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but on Friday he showed is outside abilities as well.
In a hard fought game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the big power forward heaves up a long bomb from four feet past the three point line and hits nothing but net.
The Clippers didn’t expect Love to take the final shot, which is why he was so wide open for the game winner. Wolves shock Los Angeles and the NBA again, 101-98. This is the team's first three-game winning streak in over two years.
Love’s game-winning shot came just second after a Ricky Rubio three-pointer tied the game in the waning seconds of the game. It was also Rubio’s only basket out of 11 shots. Talk about shaking the bad shots off and just continuing to shoot.
While Rubio and Love will steal the spotlight, Darko Milicic and his 22 points and seven rebounds were enough to put the team in a great position at the end.
Despite the fact that Love can play forward or center and stands at 6’10”, the man can shot the deep ball. Over his short NBA career, Love has managed an impressive .372 shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Add in the fact that he has started the season off with 15 straight double-doubles means he is in top form and ready to roll.
That’s better than many players in the league that actually consider themselves shooters. Love makes big men everywhere hopeful about their own shot.
My honest hope is that more centers and power forwards not built in the Dirk Nowitzki mold see this video and just start jacking up threes. Imagine a world where Dwight Howard shoots four threes in one game. Madness!
As far as the Wolves go, all of the talent that they have acquired because of sucking for as long as they have is starting to pay off. While the team lacks an elite talent to facilitate Love, they have more than enough quality depth to make up for it.
With the way Minnesota has been playing so far this season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the young team take advantage of the lockout-shortened season and sneak into the postseason. I’d like to see what Love can do when the games are all big-time.
