Fantasy Hoops: Goin' Deep

Kirk SnyderCorrespondent IDecember 4, 2008

For those of you in deeper fantasy basketball leagues, here are several players to think about picking up that may still be available in your league to help your team out.

C.J. Miles (SG,SF Utah Jazz)

2008-09 Stats: 10.7 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 2.1 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.0 BPG

Advice: Miles had a recent stretch where he scored in double figures in nine out of eleven games from November 12th through November 29th, including a 21 and 25 point effort. Andrei Kirilenko is supposed to return to action Friday night from his ankle injury, but it should not effect Miles fantasy value, because Miles went on his scoring binge last month when Kirilenko was healthy and in the lineup.

Aaron Brooks (PG,SG Houston Rockets)

2008-09 Stats: 11.3 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 2.1 APG, 0.3 SPG, 0.1 BPG

Advice: Brooks is a spark plug for the Rockets off the bench. He can heat up very quickly and bundle up the points, which is why he is averaging over 11 points, in just over 21 minutes of action per game. He can also bring a surplus of three pointers to a team looking for help in that category.

Carl Landry (SF,PF Houston Rockets)

2008-09 Stats: 9.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.2 BPG

Advice: Here is a guy with great percentages that will also give your team a decent amount of boards. He can also put the ball in the hoop, he has scored in double digits in six of his past seven games.

Tim Thomas (SF,PF New York Knicks)

2008-09 Stats: 10.3 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.2 BPG

Advice: Just about any player can succeed offensively in Mike D'Antoni's system. Thomas has averaged 12 points, five boards, and two three pointers per game since arriving in the Big Apple.

Keep a close watch on:

Kyle Lowry (PG,SG Memphis Grizzlies)

2008-09 Stats: 6.8 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 3.4 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.2 BPG

Advice: With rumors going around about a possible trade involving Mike Conley being dealt to the Portland Blazers for Travis Outlaw, Lowry could take over the reigns as the starting PG for the Grizzlies, if this trade were to go down. Pay close attention, because if trade talks heat up again between Conley and Outlaw, Kyle Lowry could be a stellar pick up.
