Boston Celtics: Rookie Guard E'Twaun Moore Completes Deal with Italian Team
Boston Celtics rookie guard E'Twaun Moore has completed a deal with Italian Serie A league team Cimberio Varese, according to Sportando.
Moore was the Celtics' second round pick in this year's NBA draft, and played his college ball at Purdue University, the same school as the Celtics' first round pick JaJuan Johnson.
Many NBA players who have expressed interest in going overseas, such as Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams, will almost certainly have escape clauses in any overseas contract they may sign, which will allow them to return to the NBA this season if the entire year isn't lost due to the lockout.
Moore'sĀ contractĀ with Cimberio Varese includes an NBA escape clause if the Celtics offer him a contract for the 2011-12 season, which the Celtics would almost certainly do.
Cimberio Varese team president Cecco Vescovi talked about the NBA out part of the contract via Sportando.
""The NBA escape is a bit risky for us, but the game's worth the candle, said Vescovi.
"
With the Celtics transitioning to a younger era through this season and into the 2012-13 season, having Moore stay in America and working with the Celtics and becoming a potential replacement for Ray Allen would have been nice, but at least playing in Europe will allow Moore to gain some valuable professional basketball experience.
