This is the worst part of the year for a Cleveland Cavaliers fan. The team is in last place, the excitement of the trade deadline is over, and we still have a few months until the draft. To me it sounds like the perfect time to countdown the 50 Greatest Players in Cleveland Cavaliers History.
I did not rank the players solely based on how talented they were in their career or even while they were with the Cavaliers. I took into consideration the amount of games they played in a Cavaliers uniform and their contributions to the team. I also factored in how many playoff teams they were apart of, how many awards they won, and of course their career stats in a Cavaliers uniform.
Walt Frazier and Bill Laimbeer are great players and both played for the Cavaliers. But you won't see them on this list, because their contributions to the team were minimal.
Another example is Danny Ferry. Was he a draft bust? Yes. Is he partially to blame for the "decision"? Probably. Does that matter on this list? Nope. What does matter is that Danny Ferry played over 700 games in a Cleveland uniform and was a good sixth man on 6 playoff teams.
With all of that in mind, enjoy the list and lets hope in a few years we can put someone else in that number one spot.
