NBA Fantasy Fallouts: LA Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers Swap Point Guards
In a move that came completely out of nowhere, the Clippers and the Cavaliers swapped their injury-prone point guards who both desperately needed a change of scenery. Baron Davis has struggled to endear himself to the Clippers fans this year and Mo Williams struggled to find his place on the team without LeBron Jamesโthat is when he was healthy.
Keep in mind both guys are banged up, both missing their games last night due to injury, so the impact they have might take a week or so to materialize. Regardless, here is how the trade shakes out for fantasy purposes.

Los Angeles Clippers Receive
Mo Williams: This is a move that Mo Williams needed. After LeBron James left town, Mo was supposed to be the man in Cleveland to lead the new-look Cavs. Injuries and inconsistencies have made that difficult, but itโs over now. In going to Los Angeles, Mo Williams is on a team on which he wonโt have to be the man. Williams will be the third man on the scoring list behind Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon and he can do what he does and run the point. I think once Mo gets healthy, youโll see numbers similar to last year with more assists. Now itโs just a matter of getting healthy. The guy who really loses in all of this is Eric Bledsoe who thought when Baron left town heโd be the point guard, which obviously is not the case here.
Jamario Moon: In two years with Cleveland, Moon hasnโt been able to find regular playing time or much in the way of success. Moon showed some potential in his rookie year with the Raptors, but this is now his fifth season and heโs gone down every season. The Clippers donโt have huge talent at small forward, but Ryan Gomes is decent and Al-Farouq Aminu is young and has a ton of potential. So Moon might not have much more luck in LA, but you never know.ย
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive
Baron Davis: This isnโt the most ideal move for Baron as he is going from one bad team to another, which wonโt help with his motivation issues. But heโll have a chance to step up and be the star he wants to be in Cleveland. He got off to a rocky start this year, coming into camp out of shape. He also had injury issues, but as of late heโs stepped up his play and is averaging 16.3 points, 7.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game in February. Once he gets healthy again, he should continue putting up those numbers.
I think both guys will continue to produce as they have. But the question is, who do you think benefits the most from this move? Mo or Baron?
