Carmelo Anthony Trade: What's Next For The Denver Nuggets?
Despite finally pulling the trigger on the Carmelo Anthony deal, the Denver Nuggets are not done wheeling and dealing.
In an effort to rebuild their team, one player they will try and move is point guard Raymond Felton.
The Nuggets are confident that Ty Lawson is ready right now to step into the starting point guard role, which leaves Felton, one of the top 10 point guards in the league this season, out of a starting job.
Felton could be traded during the offseason, but the Nuggets will be pushing hard to trade him before Thursday's deadline. Any team that is willing to give young players or first rounds draft selections are in the running for Felton. Two teams that could make a run at Felton are the Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptors.
Another player the Nuggets could deal is Danilo Gallinari. The Los Angeles Clippers have already reportedly offered Minnesota's first round pick for Gallinari, and the Cavaliers, Raptors, and Nets are all reportedly interested in acquiring the former Knick.
Two other moves Denver could do in the next couple of days are trading away recently acquired forward Wilson Chandler and giving Nene a contract extension.
If a Nene extension does not work out, it is possible that the Nuggets will trade him, or possibly J.R. Smith and his expiring contract, to a team for draft picks.
The Houston Rockets, among others, have expressed interest in acquiring Nene before the deadline. J.R. Smith could garner interest from a team like the Chicago Bulls, looking to add another piece before the playoffs.
Up until the 3:00 pm EST trade deadline on Thursday, look for the Denver Nuggets to be very active and to pull off another trade or two.
