Carmelo Anthony To New York Knicks: Winners and Losers Of Rumored 3-Way Trade
Carmelo Anthony May Be Headed to the New York Knicks, But Who Wins and Who Loses In This Possible Deal?
Carmelo Anthony is yet again the talk of NBA circles as the latest trade rumors have the superstar heading to New York in a three team deal with Minnesota and Denver.
Denver would get a first round pick from Minnesota (of which Minnesota has three — theirs, Memphis' and Utah's) Corey Brewer and Wilson Chandler while Minnesota will get Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph. With that being the deal that's being talked about right now, we're breaking this down and handicapping who would be the winners and the losers of this deal.
If you have any thoughts or comments, make sure to leave them below. What do you think of this possible trade?
No. 5 Winner: Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets have to move Carmelo Anthony. It's that simple.
Anthony wouldn't have signed with New Jersey and that makes the deal those teams had in place worthless. He wants to go to the Knicks and Denver has to get what it can from the Knicks without any leverage in the trade discussions.
If Denver can get a first round pick that should be in the top three, that's a pretty good deal. It won't make the fans happy, but it's for the best.
No. 5 Loser: Anthony Randolph
2 of 10
There was a lot of hope for Anthony Randolph in New York, but that hasn't worked out.
Randolph barely plays in New York and now he's going to possibly be sent to Minnesota to play for a terrible team that isn't going anywhere any time soon. It's a terrible turn of events for Randolph, who may get playing time, but in a terrible situation.
No. 4 Winner: Carmelo Anthony
3 of 10
Either way, Carmelo Anthony is going to get what he wants.
He wants to go to the Knicks and he may get there and sign his massive contract extension. Denver is a great city, but he's going home to New York and it's a perfect situation for him with Amar'e Stoudemire already there.
Throw in an up-tempo offense and solid role players and the Knicks would be a big threat come playoff time.
No. 4 Loser: Denver's Fans
4 of 10
Denver has a team that's enjoyable to watch right now. Without Carmelo Anthony, who do you go to see if you're a Nuggets fan?
Chauncey Billups is the hometown guy, but he's on the downside of his career. Other than that, there's no one really there that to sell tickets and get fans excited to go see. It's going to be a lean couple of months in the Pepsi Center if Anthony gets dealt.
Denver won't win, there won't be a compelling player and it will be a full-on rebuild going on for the Nuggets.
No. 3 Winner: Amar'e Stoudemire
5 of 10
Amar'e Stoudemire stepped up to the plate this past off-season and signed with the New York Knicks.
New York made a hard push to get LeBron James to join him but to no avail. Stoudemire has done a great job of being the rock the Knicks have been lacking for years. If he gets Carmelo Anthony on the team with the existing pieces, the Knicks have quite the squad.
Things are looking up for Amar'e and company if New York can land Anthony.
No. 3 Loser: New Jersey Nets
6 of 10
If you're the New Jersey Nets right now, you have to be scratching your head.
New Jersey put a great deal on the table and it was far above what any other team was offering and that deal fell apart. Now the Knicks come in and offer much, much less than what the Nets did, and the talks are starting to progress.
Some guys get all of the luck, I suppose.
No. 2 Winner: Donnie Walsh
7 of 10
Donnie Walsh came to New York after Isiah Thomas ran it into the ground.
He's done a masterful job of keeping cap space open and has brought players in that have turned the Knicks from a team that was the laughing stock of the league to one that is on the verge of being a serious contender if this trade goes through.
Yet, James Dolan still holds a flame for Thomas. That man is a buffoon.
No. 2 Loser: David Kahn
8 of 10
So does anyone have an idea of what David Kahn is trying to accomplish in Minnesota?
First, he drafts three point guards in one draft. One of them hasn't played one second of NBA action and the other was traded. Then he had the nerve to compare Darko Milicic to Vlade Divac with a straight face and now this awful trade.
Sometimes I think he still has a job only for our amusement.
No. 1 Winner: Knicks Fans
9 of 10
It's been years of torture for Knicks fans.
They've had to suffer through so many terrible teams and years without draft picks and all of it has been building to this moment. New York has improved and is looking like a playoff team. If the Knicks can get Carmelo Anthony, New York is going to be a dangerous, dangerous team in the playoffs and for years to come.
Enjoy these moments, Knicks fans, you've certainly earned them.
No. 1 Loser: Kevin Love
10 of 10
What did Kevin Love do to deserve such shabby treatment?
Love is the best player in Minnesota and yet, the Timberwolves aren't doing much to help build around him. Michael Beasley was a nice pickup in the off-season, but trading away a first round draft pick isn't exactly the way to get back to the top, especially when all you're getting back is Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph.
A player of Love's caliber deserves to be playing for a better organization than Minnesota.
