LeBron James: The Reason Everybody (Except Heat Fans) Hates Him

Nobody is doubting Lebron James talent as a great NBA player. With his extremely predominant physique, his sixth sense of court awareness, and his overwhelming presence on the court, it is no fluke he has grabbed the attention of basketball fans worldwide. However, his "decision" to head to Miami to team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh left a sour taste in the mouths' of NBA fans everywhere. No, I am not talking about his decision to leave the Cavs and join the Heat. I am talking about his hour long "Decision" which ran on like a mid season election debate.

The fact of the matter is simple. Lebron James used this hour long "decision" as an attention getter. It does not take an entire hour to announce where one will be playing next season. Here's an example of how it should have gone.

"Hey, Lebron. Where will you be playing next season?"

"Miami."

Look at that. It took about three seconds to get that done. So, why did Lebron use a full hour of television time to make this "decision"? And let's not get on that "He did it to raise money for Boys and Girls Clubs". Sure, he probably did raise money for The Boys and Girls Clubs. However, we all know that was secondary compared to the attention he so desperately loves.

He's "The Chosen One", the "King With No Ring". Really? The "King With No Ring"? I'm pretty sure you're not the King if you don't have the crown, or the ring in this case.

Don't get me wrong. I think Lebron James is a great player. He brings energy to all of his teammates, and the desire to win. However, he lacks a certain drive to pull off the big game when it really matters in the postseason. There's a reason Michael Jordan has six NBA Championships and Kobe Bryant has five. Jordan was (and Kobe still is) clutch when it counted.

The majority of  fans who are sad Lebron left miserable, economically depressed Cleveland for sunny South Florida are Cavs fans. However, the way he handled it with his televised soap opera upset just about everybody except Miami Heat fans. And rightfully so. For Heat fans, they added one of the best players in the NBA in Lebron James to team up with newly acquired Chris Bosh and the face of their franchise, Dwyane Wade.

Let the record show, fans are not mad at Lebron for leaving Cleveland! They are just upset by the way he handled it. Lebron, if you want to better your career and you feel teaming up with your two pals will help you accomplish that goal, then by all means go ahead, But the fact you dragged the media around like puppy dogs who anticipated your every word made you look selfish and needy of attention. And you wonder why we were mad.
