By this time, if you’re a basketball fan of some sort, you know that Carmelo Anthony could very well be traded soon.

Today in the NBA a trade occurred.  It didn’t involve All-Star Carmelo, it didn’t involve any starters, and if not for this blog post, these players could potentially go unnoticed all year.  So why am I posting this?

Ummm, slow Thursday and I miss the NBA.

The Philadelphia 76ers have acquired rookie Craig Brackins from Iowa State and journeyman Darius Songalia.  They send guard Willie Green and big man Jason Smith to the New Orleans Hornets

Willie Green will serve as a backup combo guard for Chris Paul and Marcus Thornton with the Hornets.

Darius Songalia and Jason Smith are serviceable, benchwarming big men who are limited offensively.

I’d keep an eye on Craig Brackins from Iowa State: He has great size and length and is very athletic at 6'10".  Brackins has a great mid-range game,  but he needs to bulk up to help finish around the rim.  The kid spells potential; we'll see what head coach Doug Collins can do with him.

If you’re a fan of the Hornets or 76ers, this is an important trade for how your reserves are shaping up.  If you're not a fan of either team, don’t count on these guys having a major impact. is a newly launched sports website featuring two young and entertaining radio hosts, bloggers, and columnists!
