Shaquille O'Neal: Boston Celtics Leaning Towards Agreement With Shaq

Tony SantorsaAug 3, 2010

Reports from A. Sherrod Blakely state that the Boston Celtics are "close" in agreeing on a contract with free-agent center Shaquille O'Neal.

Throughout the NBA off-season in Boston, there has been a buzz that Shaq would land there and go for another ring. And Shaq has made it clear he wouldn't mind joining the Celtics. Shaq even came out in public and stated his feelings on becoming a Celtic on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

O'Neal would be a nice addition for the Celtics and would be a more physical replacement to the reportedly retiring Rasheed Wallace. Shaq would bring a strong presence down low and would snag quite a few boards for the Green.

Pairing up Shaq with Jermaine O'Neal, Boston should have no problem with the absence of starting center Kendrick Perkins.

Shaq would be a nice fit in Boston and he'd bring leadership to an already mentally tough team.

As we all know, Shaquille O'Neal is a winner, and he wouldn't just be coming to Boston for the money; it's for the chance to win another ring. So, if Shaq wants to come to Boston, then you could say Boston will be a favorite to win the Eastern Conference next season.
