LeBron James' Decision: Will the 2010 Heat Resemble the 2008 Celtics?
Rumors are swirling, and today, LeBron will announce which team he will choose to play for after all of this free agency drama.
The team James is most likely joining is the Miami Heat, this being only a day after fellow free agent superstars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh said they were going to sign with the Heat.
Now this only a rumor, but if this was going to happen for sure, this would shake up the NBA in a very significant way.
Either three superstars could work very well together just like the 2008 Celtics, or it could turn out very badly with a clash of egos in the locker room.
My guess is that it could be a repeat of the 2008 Celtics, and that means a championship awaits them.
You put Dwyane Wade, who is a shooting guard that can control his ego, and Chris Bosh, who is a power forward and is not known for an ego, together with LeBron James, maybe the best player in the NBA.
Sure, James has an ego, but so did Kevin Garnett on the Celtics and it worked out.
Also, you have a young point guard in Mario Chalmers with three superstars. Chalmers had a solid season last year and will just improve with some of the best players in the NBA, which kind of reminds me of Rajon Rondo's situation, just a little bit.
You also have a young center in Dexter Pittman who has a big body and can play all around good basketball. Not to mention, Udonis Haslem, who is a very good big man and is a solid role player for this Miami team.
Do Glen Davis and Kendrick Perkins ring a bell?
If LeBron joins the Heat, I don’t see them self destructing because of what Bosh and Wade are doing—taking less money to win more games.
In my eyes, that is just a sign that this team will be one of the best teams for years to come.
So watch out, this team could win a championship just like the 2008 Celtics, but the scary thing is that they could win many championships because they are starting so young.
But, if LeBron announces on Thursday he is signing on another team, we can only dream how good this team could have been.
