Sam Smith of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that he has heard of a deal—the deal that will make Tom Thibodeau the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls. Neither side will confirm nor deny. The reported deal will be for three years.
Thibodeau has confirmed that no announcement, one way or the other, will be made during the NBA Finals.
Meanwhile, Bulls GM Gar Forman has fired back on Dwyane Wade’s attack on the Chicago club from last week.
Wade’s comments, as reported by Fred Mitchell of the Chicago Tribune, questioned the loyalty of the organization towards its former players:
“I think the biggest question that you think about has to be loyalty,” said Wade, a Richards grad who added he has been a Bulls fan for a long time.
“I know one thing about Miami: It is a very loyal organization. I see what they do with their players when their players get done with the game of basketball…how loyal they are. I don’t know about the Bulls.”
Wade said it appears to him that the Bulls don’t measure up to the Heat in the loyalty department.
“I see Michael Jordan is not there, Scottie Pippen is not there…You know, these guys are not a part,” Wade said. “Things like that. So that is probably one of the biggest things for me, because I am a very loyal person.”
Gar Forman responded by saying, “Anyone who would question our loyalty is obviously misinformed.”
I think it’s safe to say that the “misinformed” Dwyane Wade has crossed Chicago off of his list of possible destinations.
