The NBA Draft is only a few days away and the Knicks are sitting a bit uncomfortably at No. 6.
Why uncomfortable you ask? Well they are basically picking the leftover or best available player from the 3-5 picks.
Thank God the draft is pretty deep in talent but i'm sure the Knicks would like a guy like O.J. Mayo or even Jerryd Bayless to fall into their laps, something that is highly unlikely because I feel that Minnesota is going to take O.J., while Seattle takes Jerryd.
Well that leaves us with a couple of players that are possible selections at No. 6 for the Knicks. Russel Westbrook has been rumored to be a possible pick, Danilo Gallinari, and even DJ Augustin has been rumored to be headed to New York.
I'm not really a big fan of Russel, he hasn't shown me too much during college, I have no idea how he even got into the lottery. I think that he is going to be a good role player at best, I don't know i'm not too sold on him.
As for Danilo, I personally haven't seen him play yet so I can't judge him on that, but recent history tells us that drafting a foreign player that high might not be the best thing to do but hey, he might be the next Toni Kukoc, who knows.
With DJ Augustin, I think he has a good game but I feel like picking him at No. 6 is way too high and we might as well trade down to get him.
But what i'm wondering is, where is the love for Eric Gordon?
I remember before he got into college, he was projected as a top-five prospect and now he's anywhere from No. 6 to No. 10.
I think the hype has died down with Eric a bit but we shouldn't forget that he has star potential. The kid has an NBA-ready body, NBA-ready range, and NBA-ready explosiveness.
I think he might be a much better Ben Gordon or he could even turn into a Ray Allen. Yeah, thats right I said Ray Allen, I think he has that much potential.
I honestly think he would be a great fit in D'Antoni's system, although a pure point guard would be great.
Having said that, I still will not get off the DeAndre Jordan bandwagon. I love his upside!
Remember in the 2005 draft when New York passed up on a young center with a ton of potential, size and athleticism? He plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Does that ring a bell? ANDREW BYNUM!
I see a lot of Andrew Bynum in DeAndre and I feel like the sky is the limit for this kid.
The Knicks in 2005 picked Channing Frye because he was more "NBA ready" than trying to go for the home run in picking Andrew Bynum.
I mean okay, we won't know for sure what kind of pro-prospect DeAndre is going to be, but I feel like he is so raw that he has a lot of growth left in him.
I don't think New York is going to win playoff games anytime soon so why not swing for the fences for once and maybe, just maybe, the Knicks might come up lucky. You never know.

I see your point on Bynum, but keep in mind that Bynum had about 2 good months, and as a Knick fan I can say that dominant centers do not always result in championships. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the knicks trade down and get more of the depth that is in this draft, but if they do not, Gordon is the pic. Not only is he a nice fit with Crawford and Robinson in a 3 man backcourt, but he would be an excellent 2nd scorer during the upcoming LBJ era! Gordon's ability to drive and shoot will take pressure off of Jamal and Nate and will free up offensive rebounding opportunities for the Balkmans and Lees of the team. He is the no brainer that no one is projecting to be gone at that point. With Jamal being a streakier shooter than some might like, and Q not part of the future, a solid, classic shooting guard is as valuable to a team as any other position. Then mix the fact that D'Antoni's system is not based around a dominant 7 footer(Though DeAndre's big trait is his athleticism not his bulk), and I hear the guy has so little basketball knowledge that is is scary.. Gordon is the pic! If I'm pickin it!

Trade for Carmello & Lebron. Get them both. They both are available this year & next. Enough is enough already. It's New York!!!
