Stephen Curry Passes Chauncey Billups for 10th on All-Time 3-Pointers Made List
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry moved into the top 10 for three-pointers made in NBA history Sunday against the New York Knicks.
Curry jumped ahead of Chauncey Billups, who wrapped up his NBA career with 1,830 three-pointers, per Basketball Reference.
The NBA shared a replay of the shot that put Curry in front of Billups:
The Warriors have 20 games remaining in the 2016-17 season, and the two-time reigning MVP entered Sunday averaging 3.9 three-pointers a game. Even if he approaches that pace and appears in every game left in the regular season, he may have to wait until next year to climb into ninth place:
| 1 | Ray Allen | 2,973 |
| 2 | Reggie Miller | 2,560 |
| 3 | Jason Terry | 2,220 |
| 4 | Paul Pierce | 2,138 |
| 5 | Kyle Korver | 2,026 |
| 6 | Vince Carter | 2,018 |
| 7 | Jamal Crawford | 2,017 |
| 8 | Jason Kidd | 1,988 |
| 9 | Joe Johnson | 1,903 |
| 10 | Stephen Curry | 1,833 |
Still, it's seemingly only a matter of time before Curry overtakes Ray Allen for the top spot.
Curry's success from beyond the arc to date is unparalleled in NBA history. He sits first, second and fourth for the most three-pointers in a single season. He's also third all-time in three-point percentage (43.8 percent).
In addition, he has already made a ton of headway on Allen's record-setting mark. Through his first eight seasons, Allen had nearly 600 fewer three-pointers to his name (1,277), per Basketball Reference. Allen also averaged one fewer three-pointer per game (2.3) than Curry (3.3).
As long as he stays healthy over the remainder of his NBA career, the three-point record will be well within Curry's reach in the next five years.
