NBA Trade Rumors: Latest Buzz Surrounding Iman Shumpert and Ben McLemore
With one week of the NBA regular season already done, teams are getting a feel for their rosters and what changes can be made.
The extension deadline also passed, which means several players who didn't get said extensions are now slated to become restricted free agents next summer. Some of those players will hit the trade block, with the allure of their expiring contracts attracting teams.
Let's check in with the trade prospects of two young shooting guards in opposite conferences.

Iman Shumpert

Despite the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers' 3-0 start to the season, there's one major issue with the roster that could end up hurting the team down the line: the squad only has two healthy point guards on the roster, and one of them is a rookie second-round pick (Kay Felder).
Combine that with the fact that the starter, Kyrie Irving, has missed an average of 17 games per season during his career, and there's a disturbing lack of depth there. The Cavaliers desperately need a third point guard on the team, preferably one with some experience who can slide in as the main backup.
Mo Williams, while technically on the Cavs' payroll, doesn't qualify because of his knee surgery and weird roller-coaster ride with the team that saw him skip training camp. He implied plenty of frustration with the franchise's lack of care for his health in an Instagram post a few weeks ago.
Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon confirmed ESPN.com's Zach Lowe's report that the team is listening to trade offers for swingman Iman Shumpert, but added last Saturday that the Cavs are not actively looking to deal him.
Shumpert has played some backup point guard for Cleveland to start this season, but he doesn't have the ball-handling or playmaking abilities to be a viable option there. The Cavs' wing depth is fine, so Shumpert isn't totally indispensable and could be dealt for a backup floor general.
Vardon added that Cleveland also has Williams' contract, an $11 million trade exception and Jordan McRae as trade options. It's definitely worth keeping an eye on how the Cavs deal with their point guard situation over the next days and weeks.
Ben McLemore

The deadline for contract extensions for the draft class of 2013 was Monday night. Several players locked themselves into long-term deals with their squads, and the players eligible for extensions who didn't get them are now forced to wade into the uncertain waters of restricted free agency.
One of those first-round picks from 2013 who didn't get an extension was the Sacramento Kings' Ben McLemore. The No. 7 overall pick from that year, McLemore has been a bust thus far, not performing to the level people expected of him on either end of the floor.
Despite this, the Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones said the Kings aren't interested in trading the 23-year-old shooting guard.
Right now, McLemore's trade value just isn't very high. He has gotten off a decent offensive start for Sacramento (10.3 points per game on a 50.0/37.5/75.0 shooting slash), but he's also playing just 17.8 minutes on a squad that doesn't figure to be one of the better ones in the league. He's behind past-their-prime veterans Arron Afflalo and Matt Barnes in the rotation.
So it makes sense that Sacramento doesn't want to swap the athletic, sometimes sweet-shooting McLemore right now. It will be interesting to monitor his stock with the Kings and around the league this season, though.
