Derrick Rose Sexual Assault Accuser's Court Papers Say He Is 'Victim Blaming'
In court papers, a woman suing New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose and two others for alleged rape accused him of "victim blaming," per Dareh Gregorian of the New York Daily News.
Gregorian noted the suit—which is for $21 million in federal court in California—stated Rose and the others drugged and raped the woman, identified as "Jane Doe," in August 2013. The court papers also stated Rose "asked her to bring sex toys and repeatedly pestered her for threesomes and foursomes," per Gregorian.
Doe was reportedly romantically involved with Rose, but the court papers stated "she always shot down his requests for multiple partners," as well as other sexual activities.
On Wednesday, Gregorian reported Rose filed papers that stated the encounter was consensual and that Doe was "the sexual aggressor that night" and brought a sex toy to a party.
Doe's court filing stated she brought the sex toy because the point guard asked.
Rose's filing described the case as "pure and simple extortion," per Gregorian.
Sports law expert Daniel Wallach called Rose's court filing "scorched-earth legal tactics," per Julia Marsh of the New York Post.
Gregorian reported the case is set to go to trial Oct. 4, which is when the Knicks will open their 2016-17 preseason schedule at the Houston Rockets.
