Rondo to Meet with Brooklyn
Thursday, June 30
The Brooklyn Nets appear to be interested in Rondo, as the two sides will meet when free agency begins on Friday, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
The Nets have a hole at point guard, as the team waived Jarrett Jack on Thursday. Brooklyn is in a good position to land Rondo, one of the best free-agent point guards on the market, since the 30-year-old is hoping to go to a major market, per Lewis.
Rondo may not have the same type of success in Brooklyn as he found with Sacramento. The Nets have no real scoring threats outside of Brook Lopez, who averaged 20.6 points a year ago. Joe Johnson is no longer with the team, and the Nets traded Thaddeus Young to the Indiana Pacers before this year's NBA draft.
Rondo Looking to Build On Bounce-Back Season
After a disappointing stint with Dallas in the 2014-15 season, Rondo experienced a career revitalization with the Kings, averaging 11.9 points and a league-leading 11.7 assists per game last year. He also hit a career-high 36.5 percent of this threes.
Rondo can still dish the rock, but he is not a legitimate scorer. Still, he can help lead the Bulls' offense after the departure of Derrick Rose.
