Bledsoe Out for Season

Tuesday, Dec. 29

The Suns announced Bledsoe will not return this season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

Suns coach Jeff Hornacek originally placed Bledsoe's timeline at six weeks Monday, per Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic. Coro indicated Bledsoe is expected to be ready for training camp next season.

Bledsoe Has History of Knee Injuries

The Suns nabbed Bledsoe in a three-team deal with the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks prior to the 2013-14 season, but the combo guard's first season in the desert was marred by surgery required to repair torn cartilage in his knee.

He also required surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee in 2011 when he was with the Los Angeles Clippers, before having it removed entirely in 2014.

After appearing in 43 games during the 2013-14 campaign, Bledsoe rebounded to appear in 81 games a season ago. He was bothered by left-knee soreness earlier this season, but it was hardly serious.

After 31 games this season, Bledsoe is averaging 20.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.0 steals a year after posting 17.0 points, 6.1 assists and 5.2 boards a night last year.

Rookie Devin Booker will have to carry a much heavier load now that Bledsoe has been declared out for the rest of the season.
